Naturally, you want to travel worry-free. We therefore strongly recommend protecting yourself by taking out the necessary travel insurance.
There are three types of insurance. These can often be combined into a single package, but you can also purchase them separately if necessary.
Get sick while traveling? Have an accident? Lost your travel documents? Car trouble? … the list is unfortunately very long of unpleasant situations you can encounter during your trip. Assistance insurance is essential for this, helping you navigate your way abroad, providing assistance, and covering (medical) expenses. These can be quite expensive, and the mandatory health insurance in your country of origin or residence may not cover them. Even the insurance offered by credit cards isn’t always sufficient. Therefore, it’s advisable to check what exactly you’re insured for and where it’s valid.
Want to be sure? Then ask Daybreak Travel for advice. We can help you.
Are you sick before you depart? Do you get sick during your trip and have to interrupt it? Does one of your children or a close family member get sick? Are you unable to obtain a visa for your destination? Have you suddenly lost your job? Do you have to resit exams and therefore cannot travel? Is there another event that prevents you from leaving? You often cannot get a refund for the travel costs you paid, especially if an event occurs that prevents you from leaving just before your departure date.
Cancellation insurance offers the solution here. You’re then insured for the travel price you paid. Note: this is not the same as roadside assistance insurance. However, you can request a refund for the part of your trip you didn’t enjoy if you encounter an unpleasant situation abroad.
This insurance covers your luggage should something go wrong, such as damage or theft. There’s always a limit on the value of your luggage, but this is usually adjustable.
One-time trip insurance or annual insurance?
This depends on whether you travel only once a year or multiple times. In the latter case, an annual contract may be the most cost-effective solution. This insurance is valid for every trip with at least one overnight stay.
Several insurance companies offer similar products at similar prices: Ethias, Europ Assistance, Allianz, DKV, VAB, and others. We have an agreement with VAB, but if you already have insurance with one of these companies or would prefer to switch to a different company, this is, of course, your right. However, we can provide additional services for VAB, such as filing claims and other similar claims.
